Not Scared of Responsibility.
Being a real man is all about identifying and working to manage all the responsibilities that you may currently have in your life that may include fairly obvious things such as going to work in order to pay for all the bills like rent or mortgage, car insurance, and other household bills. As well as the more simple and repetitive responsibilities such as taking out the trash, cleaning the dishes and tidying your house regularly.
In a lot of cases, this is easier said than done and if you are not managing your time properly than you may feel that you should just negate some of your responsibilities in order to free up time on what you enjoy doing, in other words, burying your head in the sand.
Furthermore, you should not try and show off that you are responsible, instead, you should just keep your head down and remain focused and sooner or later, the people around you will figure out whether you are responsible or not.
Has the Right Amount of Confidence.
Often confidence, when applied in the discussion of what it means to be a ‘real men’, will revolve around the concept of alpha males and beta males however this cannot be further from the truth. Alpha and beta males is a false theory that does not apply to the 21st century, where no longer the most physically strong male will need to subdue the others in order to come out on top.
Instead, it is about having confidence in yourself, but the right amount of confidence as with anything, if you have too much of it, can lead to more issues. The right amount of confidence will help you overcome the challenges and obstacles that will be thrown at you in life such as being rejected at job interviews, relationships and starting your very own business. It is important to have belief in yourself in order to continue moving forward and improving further.
On the other hand, as mentioned earlier above you need to have self-awareness as too much confidence is not a good thing and in most cases, it is actually used to hide deep insecurities. Although having confidence is essential in being a real man, you need to make sure that your confidence does not make you delusional.
Not Placing His Worth on Material Things.
It can be easy when you have achieved your first taste of success or accomplishment in life to want to show it off and start thinking that you are superior to others that do not have what you have. This is the wrong mindset to have, and it will just lead to a lot of problems in your personal and work life in the long term.
Also, it will not make you happy as having nice possessions only makes you happy for an extremely short amount of time, and before you know it you will want the next edition or something that you think is better as the saying goes ‘the grass is always greener on the other side’. What separates man from the boys is their ability to think long term, rather than buying the latest smartphone it is better to invest in yourself or in a passive investment such as property or dividend shares.
This does not just apply to material possessions; it also heavily applies to the attention that you get from females. This is very important for many men, especially when they are young, as getting attention from women is viewed as a good trait in males, and it is perceived by many to be a sign of a real man.
There is nothing wrong with this as long as it does not overtake your life in a way where you are spending most of your energy and money on chasing girls rather than improving yourself and your life.
Respecting Others.
To be a real strong independent man you do not have to pick on others to make yourself look better and also feel better about yourself. Instead, you need to be respectful to everyone that you meet, as this will show others that you are a confident person who is happy with their long terms goals and how their life is currently going. As all bullies are compensating for something.
Furthermore, showing others respect will, in turn, build respect for yourself, as this is something that people notice, and it will make you look at a lot more reliable. In turn, being reliable will increase the chances of people confiding sensitive information about themselves and trusting you to work with them on potentially life-changing endeavors where someone hardworking and trustworthy is needed.
At the end of the day, you never know who will one day become famous, rich or could simply just give you a helping hand, and by being disrespectful to people you are just closing doors for your advancement in life.
Additionally, being respectful to people makes you a leader which is another important train in real man, respect has a lot of key qualities connected to qualities apart from looking good. It also shows that you can take potentially opposing views of other people at neutral face value and evaluate them, which is key as no matter how smart you are, you will not always be right about everything.
A leader is not someone who is worshiped by their employees or lower-ranked colleagues instead they are someone who is there to steer the ship and make the best use of all the skills and knowledge that their team has.
